TheIbanez SR500 is a bass guitar with a mahogany body, a contoured shape, and a 5-piece jabota and bubinga neck. It has a number of features, including:
Pickups: Bartolini MK-1 passive pickups
EQ: Semi-parametric 3-band EQ with a three-way toggle switch for selecting mid-range frequency
Bridge: ACCU-cast B300 bridge
Neck: A slim neck that's comfortable to hold and gives good access to the upper frets
Body: A warm, woody mahogany body that produces a rich tone
The Ibanez SR500 is a popular choice among bass players, including Fieldy from Korn, Paul Gray from Slipknot, and Peter Iwers of In Flames. It's considered a good option for both beginners and professionals.
The SR500 is a Soundgear series solid body electric bass model introduced by Ibanez for 2004. It was initially produced in South Korea, but production moved to Indonesia in 2008.
The SR500 features a double-cutaway mahogany body bolted to a wenge and bubinga SR4 neck with a 24-fret rosewood fingerboard with abalone oval position markers. Components include a pair of Bartolini MK1 passive soapbar humbucking pickups, an Accu-cast B20 fixed bridge with 19mm string spacing, an a Bartolini MK1 preamp with 3-band EQ, and Ibanez die-cast tuning machines. Controls consist of a master volume, balance, treble boost/cut, bass boost/cut and mid boost/cut.
For 2008 the neck was changed to jatoba and bubinga. The preamp was changed to the EQB-IIIs for 2010. For 2012 the bridge was changed to the Accu-cast B300.
